Chateau Ventenac - Réserve

The philosophy behind the wine:

The « Château Ventenac » product range is dedicated to our AOC wines. As opposed to the « Domaine Ventenac » range where the respect of the varietal typicity is the main directive in the wines' elaboration, we attempt to reveal with this brandour terroir. They are vinified accordingly in the following philosophy: the respect of the typicity of the AOC. The blend necessarily contains 40% of the Atlantic varieties and 40% of the Mediterranean varieties, but varies with the vintage.
The Château Ventenac « Réserve » is the fresh expression of this terroir, presenting intense aromas of red fruits heightened by spicier scents.


Grape Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), Merlot (30%), Syrah (35%), Grenache (5%)
Vineyards: Calcareous soils and clay-limestone - « Calbet le Haut », « La Grande Garenne », «Le four à chaux», « Les plots » - Density: 6500 vines / Ha
Harvest: Yields: 50 hl / ha - Sorting - Fully crushed
Vinification: 300 Hl stainless steel tanks - Pre-fermentary cold maceration for 5 days at 6°C - Yeast addition - Fermentation at 28°C - Daily pump-overs - Vatting length : 35 days - Malolactic fermentation - Racking - Filtration
Ageing: 10% of the blend: 12 months in 225L American oak barrels - 90% of the blend: 12 months in cement vats with micro-oxygenation
