Alain Maurel got started in 1973 with the help of his father. After carefully observing the different climatic and geological factors, after visiting the most esteemed vineyards, and with the collaboration of the Aude chamber of agriculture, he was among the first to restructure his vineyards.

The first decision was to proceed following a guiding principle: A qualitative approach must be built up from the grape to the bottle. The elaboration of a wine is a chain where there can be no weak link : This principle is applied to the entire product range, from « Domaine Ventenac » to « Mas Ventenac », the latter being the ultimate expression of our terroir and know how.

The family wine estate is now entering a transitional phase with the arrival of Alain Maurel's children. This transition is essentially dedicated to the transmission of know-how, but also to the implementation of a new dynamic for Maison Ventenac.
